    MKIV R32 with the following mods:

    * Fully custom DMS or Moton suspension ($15k)
    * Full poly bushings throughout suspension ($500)
    * Fully adjustable, lighter, stronger suspension arms throughout ($5k)
    * Smaller steering wheel ($500)
    * Full moly welded-in roll cage (a proper one, not some pansy cage with one single door bar). Bars to come through firewall to strut towers. ($15k)
    * 100L Fuel cell ($3k)
    * ITBs ($4k)
    * Stand alone engine management ($5k)
    * Race duration cams ($3k)
    * Custom valve springs ($1k)
    * Ti rods ($3k)
    * ARP rod bolts ($500)
    * Custom pistons to raise compression to 14:1 ($2k)
    * Knife-edged crank ($700)
    * Headwork (port, polish, larger valves) ($2000)

    Al's car isn't even remotely close to that list in terms of $ spent or "hardcoreness". A proper widebody carbon kit alone is getting towards $25k painted and fitted.

    My fictional car would completely wipe the floor with the R32 Procar racers as well, seeing as they were restricted in their mods.

    'Course I'd probably end up buying a GT3 instead, but it's nice to dream. I suspect the build price for the Langers spec R32 would be getting up towards $300k.
