    'Door open' indicator

So I've been scouring the web to see if this has anything to do with the dreded microswitch but heres my problem:

With all the doors shut, the dash lights up and says a door is open, making all the interior lights stay on all the time, I have found out that it is the drivers door that's giving me grief.

Has anyone had this happen to them before? Any fixes? Any ides? Has it got something to do with the door lock?

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

I have the opposite... My passenger door always thinks its closed.
There was a thread discussing this not long ago I think.

The only times this has happened to me has been with the tailgate/barn doors on a Caddy. In both cases however, it has been because the doors have not closed properly. They might look closed, but they can need a more firm "slam" before the system thinks they are properly closed.

Yeah same exact problem interior lights stay on. Also if its the drivers side door it will keep locking the doors even when you open it up. Mine turned out to be the micro switch. Its not the actual switch screwed more the plunger wears down. Its a $3 fix but a fair bit of effort.

As posted in the other thread

Haha yeah it's annoying, mine's been the same for the last couple of months. I've locked myself out once because the doors/alarm rearmed and key was inside, and I've left my parkers on countless times because the beep doesn't go off lol. As BDS said, it's a cheap part but a pain to do because you'll have to pull the door card off etc.

as with most electrical problems with the mk4, the first suggestion ive always been given is spray it to death with electrical switch/contact cleaner. If that doesnt work, then try replacing things
