Difference between a GL and a GL Rally

    Hi Peoples!

I just had a quick question, apologies if this has been asked before, I had a quick look through the search option but couldn't find anything...

I have bought a VW Golf GL. Now on the registration papers when I went to insure it, it actually has a badge of GL Rally. (and Golf GL was a separate car, so they musn't be the same)

So, What's the difference? Did I buy the better car?

Hi and welcome to the forum. The Rallye had the same 1.6 engine but had different trim level. Better seats and small mag wheels which the standard GL different have. Badges and thats about it I think.
The Mk4 is a great car but needs suspension to make them better as they are very softly sprung.
    Cheers, Andrew

The 1.6 and 2.0 Rally had extras like Amaroo Alloy Wheels, Faux Woodgrain effect, floor mats and Rally badging.

It was a Limited Edition celebrating VW's win in the 1999 Aust. Rally Championship Formula 2 Class (FWD).
