dont forget that exhausts and tunes might not deliver a huge amount of extra power, but it may deliver it in an earlier way, and eliminate flat spots.

A before and after dyno run will show that.

Combining the exhaust/tune combo is likely to give a better result that the sum of the two individual scopes

A tune will definitely make it spit and burble more!!

The other big difference at least in mine was the weight reduction. The stock exhaust pretty much requires two people to carry whereas the B&B/APR can be lifted easily by one.

The MkV R32 i'm not so sure about. From what I've read I thought the extra 7kW or so it makes over the MkIV was down to different intake and exhaust design pretty much?

Weight will be a factor with these cars Trent

So alot of the debate comes back to the exhaust....Cats, Muffler etc.

1 person can carry a mk5 exhaust quite easily, unless they are the biggest whimp.. so maybe it's a bit lighter but not that heavy (the milltek resonated is a bit heavier on the mk5 R32 setup)

No idea sorry but good to get a dyno before/after as noise can be a bit deceiving and may sound like you're going fast. The headers are the one thing that do make a difference though.

Have a read of the Motor mag tuner car review, Guy's 400hp Golf got a 6.2s 0-100 and the rennenhaus R32 got 6s. While in gear acceleration would be different again (in the GTIs favour), I think the exhaust sound and awd is still preferable for a daily driver. So even if it is slower, no worries with traction and you can just burble along at 3k shifts and still sound awesome. The hp search isn't really that bad, I'm sure the R32 would still go alright.

Just don't get a MK4 HPA turbo kit, that Silver MK4 that was in QLD ran like a dog apparently because of software problems (not saying the install was bad).

Yeah the R32 is a great daily driver with useable power and can put all of it down to the road. I like the torque and feels like you got nothing to prove but can step on it in any gear almost..

I wonder if those ricecans on the back had anything to do with that?

I saw it up on a hoist at Sherrins once and the pipe from the cats was actually smaller than the stock R32 exhaust

That's not the problem but yeah probably more to do with the ECU software not being right (the MK5 kit is a lot better apparently).

The reason the software isn't right is because it isn't tuned properly for an Australian delivered R32 (no off the shelf software available). A better idea would've been to tune it here in Australia if someone had/has the software to do it (Custom Code?) or just put a piggy back system in.

Anyway we're venturing off topic here.

    Cheers,
    Trent
