i was told aftermarket would yield minimal gains in power output.

but i got a B&B cat back exhaust, and the car is quicker and more urgent. the engine spins free-er.

whether i gained power or not... i don't care, it drives better, that's all that matters

Do you think running a straight exhaust cat back and not running the main muffler at rear of car could make a difference?

No he doesn't and he doesn't replay to pms on Vortex either. I sent him a message about them ages ago before I got my exhaust and he never wrote back.
    Cheers,

In regards to upgrades there really isn't much that can be done.
    • Cams
    • Headers
    • Hi Flow Cat
    • Exhaust
    • Software Tuning
    • Porting & Polishing
    • Cold Air Intake
    • DSG MAF

Looking at what's been done on Vortex with these kind of things 300hp or 223kW seems to be about the upper limit for things if you're really pushing it (at the fly).
Some serious internal work could get you some more but I doubt that it would be anything dramatic.
    Cheers,
    Trent

you'll get much better info if you talk to bug_racer who was part of the vw racing team .

i remember that golf when going to oran park raceway with the old man and the sound it made was louder and more exotic than cars it was racing (lamborghini's and ferrari's).
