    Dead turbo ??

Gave the car a good workout today and encountered a sudden exit of power and no boost since.
Car runs fine but boost has left the building and died, over weight and lonely in a cheep hotel in an undisclosed location... Checked all the usual suspects (boost hoses and connectors) but found nothing and the fact that the car still idles fine has got me at a loss.
Without pulling things apart too much i have found a crack on the exhaust housing just near where it clamps onto the compressor housing which is leaking exhaust gas ,although not much is it possible that this could be a sign/cause of no boosticle ?
    Thoughts ?

    Cheers
    Steve

Yeah I reached up and tested it for movement and it was all operational . It is making a sound like air is now traveling a different path than it should and no spool up sound at all .

Just going to bite the bullet n replace the K04 with either the same thing or one of the many similar products on the market.... Frankinturbo is looking like a good bang for buck option at the moment.

Sounds like a big expense for what may not be the issue...

At the end of the day I still have a cracked turbo that may or may not be worth fixing , so why beat around the small tree.

Had some spare time today so pulled out the turbo.

Apart from the several cracks running through just about the entire hot side, the impeller is rock solid and the nut on the end was almost off

You will find cracks on most mate and many to an acceptable level. If you are stepping up thatll be a good K03 for someone.

Its a K04 but the shaft is jammed (you cant even force it to turn ) plus when I was still working out what was wrong there was a large amount of exhaust gas leaking from the housing...... I think its rubbish but if anyone wants it they are welcome to it just pay postage...
