    well the reg should automatically get cancelled when he transfers it to his name in his state. Its possible that the car has been driven in your name since you sold it which is never ideal especially not without your consent.

    It's the seller's responsibility to fill out the transfer of ownership forms and lodge them (and there's a deadline for this too).

    Well because I traded in to a dealer and provided the trade in carbon copy to register the new one I was surprised to get the old registration that's all

    First timer. Yes in private sale fully aware of filling out disposal notice but was under the impression (from dealer) all was sorted.

    Though few funny things with the dealer so happy to concede I should have been more diligent
