Talking Cradle For 3.8.3 18CH flashrom

    Morning

Does anyone have any experience with installing a cradle (aka giac style)on the above ECU? I have a few spare flashroms and would like to grab the original file from my ECU with a programmer

There are a few 18ch ori's floating about, but i would like the peace of mind of having a backup of my own if possible

    Cheers

    Hopefully in this order

    Grab my original file
    Fit cradle
load up a very very basic map i have been working on
Sometime in late 2016 be confident enough to have a half decent ko4-020 map for my current car
Start work on multimap for probably the next million years

To be honest it just genuinely interests me and i enjoy working with software in general, there just aren't many companies out there that think your serious when you just want to learn, even unpaid

Im aware on a 3.8.3 18ch i could just flash it normally but its more of a preference i guess, makes it slightly easier to recover from a bad flash if i can just swap it out (which is quite likely since im very much a noob)

Sorry for the delay in replying. I genuinely had to have a good think about what i wanted to do with my time (and life) over the next 2 years now that a baby is on the way

Soldering the chips in is dead easy and pretty risk free with the right technique.

Never had a flash go bad on an ME3.8. All ecu types can be recovered with the right flash set up.

I reckon i am just going to get it done properly and spend my time focusing on sourcing parts. i have patience but this learning curve never ends and i would hate to get this finished and then naff it all up at a software level

I had a look at custom-code UK to try and see a recommended hardware list for a ko4-020 build but couldn't see anything

What does CC recommend? i would like to match the hardware to the software

So far only have ko4-020, TT mani and custom lines

2126 and 2955 are the most common softcodes.
