Cracked headlight lens
Hi all
Currently tidying up a few cosmetics on my 2003 2.0 golf. Top of the list is a cracked headlight lens on passenger side. Not letting water in so have been considering my options and was hoping for some advice. So far I've called a few wreckers for a used unit without luck. Ebay has some aftermarket ones that look decent for $140ish incl. shipping. Or I've seen some replacement lenses.
My main concern with the aftermarket one is a loss of symmetry. Would i be wise to source genuine part over aftermarket? Or should the difference be negligible? Also would be keen to hear if anyone on here has done the lens replacement and can shed light on how difficult or not this was.

Ebay lens replacement - VW MK4 Golf 20th GTI R32 Replacement Glass Headlight Lenses Pair | eBay
Thanks in advance

I'm in the middle of repairing a set of headlights I bought. One had a smashed lens. You basically have to smash the lens to get it out. You then have to lever out each piece of glass. Takes a fair while. Personally If I was you I'd either look for a genuine replacement whole headlight. Or replace the lens if you've got a bit of time. I was lucky and found the set for 20 bucks on gumtree.

Some of the panel shops I work with use the Headlamp Factory to repair and re-seal headlights. They might even have a second hand one lying around for you. Worth a call (03) 9560 6200, and looks like they are local for you

Thanks for the replies.
Damn saw that pair on gumtree for $20 but assumed someone would have beat me to it! Agree that sourcing used is probably the best bet if I can score at a reasonable price.
Cheers for the tip on the headlamp factory.. will give em a call
