That quote for doing the clutch isn't over the top IMO. Is that including a new dual mass flywheel?
The labour will be the same but you might save on $$$s by fitting a solid flywheel and VR6 clutch kit.

umm that was with labor. for a stock clutch, im not to sure about the differnt types n brands n stuff like that. wat about the badges?
You may be better looking at the ECS Stage 1 clutch, it will be cheaper even with shipping and is much stronger than stock. If you check around thier site you will find the GTI badge you're after as well. It would probably take a week or two to get here but they are great to deal with from my own experience.

Cheers,
Snowy.
ECS shipping is tragically expensive. But fast. I ordered some gear from them a while back on a Friday afternoon Australian time and it arrived Tuesday morning our time.
The stage 1 kit is just a lightened flywheel, which you could buy from Golfloon and a std VR6 clutch.
I looked at all these options when doing my A3. I got a FW from Golfloon and bought an uprated cover and std plate from Extreme Clutches. The purple ones!!
Cost me $900 for the pair. I felt that if I was to have any problems then dealing with the states would be too hard. There wasn't enough of a saving in it.
I wasn't bothered about the fitting as I did it myself. It would take most shops a full day. A std clutch would be fine even if you chipped the car later on. It just would last as long as an uprated one, I am talking 60-70,000 instead of 140,000 that my bog std clutch lasted with std power.
I say see if they'll do a discount for cash!!

yeh with the badge you can use a heat gun to soften the adheasive and slowly peel it of, dont worry about burning your pain etc the stuff is baked on at high temperatures so i think 100 plus 80+ degrees wont do harm, as for a front grille gti badge your probably looking at a gti 20th aniversery edition front grille badge it clips straight into the front grille, the lettering is in the old skool gti lettering eg mk2
GT-28-VW three hundred and something days till get licence back , couldnt resist that corrolla needed to teach it a lesson
Yeah, good point re, the shipping, I must admit any time I've ordered stuff from ECS I've gone in with a couple of others and we split the shipping. Before jumping into something like that I would recommend doing a bit of research and checking out ALL your options.
Snowy
