Coil packs go down into the engine from the top - Take off the cover and you'll see 4 black squares probably 2" x 2" - They are your coilpacks.
No idea how big that pin is.
Just a couple of hopefully easy questions:
1. Where is the coil pack (i need a workshop manual)?
2. What is the size of the pin at location 1?
Cheers in Advance

He never meant you were dizzy he meant no distrubutor! Ah well mate. The pin i would say is M8 in size but why do you u want to know? Coil pack is incorrect terminology for them. Single coil over plug or pencil coil. Coil pack is used often and gives me the willies ( just being picky, trust me)
Anyway mate any problems we are all here to help
p.s Coil packs are remote mounted for anyone wanting to know.
Cheers

yeah i know what he was taking about but i thought there would be some kind of single remote coil developing the current and then some kind of dizzy to distribute to the plugs. not a mechanical spinning contact point dizzy but some electronic type.
as a side note their is solid connection from the negative battery terminal to something which i assumed was the reomte coil? what is this?
the reason for the questions:
1. i am putting in an HPA short shift (as per the pic) and they come in an 8 o 10 mil pin so i needed to know to order it.
2. i built an electronic tacho from a kit as a muck around to use as a HUD tacho. It seems to be working but it needs an input from the negative side of the 'coil' to count how many times a spark is fired off.
cheers for the info guys
Hmmm im interested now mate would be nice to see a HUD. Mate i have the diagrams. If you are looking for the make and break on the neg you could most likely get this from the crank angle sensor. I understand you reason for the question now. Ok you dont hav a 'single coil as such mate feeding the 4" you have individuals im assuming im talking about the right engine as there is coil packs in some VW engine set ups . Mate give me your engine number - its on your white sticker in your book or in the boot. Then i can help lots more. If yo need a make and break earth then this does happen at the hall sender or crank angle sensor, this is an earth pulse.
Im sure we will find a trigger for you mate

here is the kit i put together:
dodgy phone shots i took this morning.
I want to disconnect the two boards, put the main board in the glovebox or somewhere and then run the number panel on the dash pointing up onto the glass. i need to work out the focus and reflection to get a sharp image without too much ghosting but i'll just play around and see if i can get something good.
i'm pretty sure your talking about the right engine as it appears there is coils as 'fkn' put up earlier. this may spoil my whole operation?
so yeah i'll check out the engine number when i get home this arvo and send it through, hopefully we can find somewhere.
otherwise have to stick it on one of your rides...love to see the combi. my mate is looking around for a 21 window but fvck they are expensive at the moment. he's also doing a 68 (i think) oval window ragtop from the ground up. taking a while but it will be a show stopper.
