Thread: Countdown is now over...

    Countdown is now over...

Well, it's a quarter to 8 and everyone at work is giving me odd looks.

    - Why are you so happy Neil?
    - Someone got out of bed on the right side today huh?

These are just two of the comments I've had this morning within the last 5 minutes after walking into the office! I couldn't wait to get out of bed this morning so I could drive to work! Sorry for all the exclamation marks but I'm just sooooooo happy!!!!

The deed is now done, and I'm the happy owner for an APR tuned GTI!!! God, what an amazing difference, the car is completely transformed!

I rocked up at around 3.30 yesterday arvo to volkspower out at Burwood and there was my little 'smurfet' just sitting there. Little did I realise at this point what to expect. I went inside but Dean was out of the office but would be back shortly, so I chatted away with the staff - all of who were realy friendly. We chatted the usual junk, fast cars and lost licenses whilst we waited for the boss to get back!

Dean arrived back and gave me a reassuring grin that it was all done and handed me the keys and said go for a spin. I thought I'd best behave and let it warm up as I usually do so I took it easy for a bit but I could already notice the difference. For your every day driving, the car feels so much more responsive and the torque delivery down low makes it perfect for an urban warrior. The ease of zipping in and out of traffic feels so much more of a pleasure. The temperature gauge is up now and I'm first at the set of lights. Let the fun begin....

1st gear and the light goes green, I took of reasonably quick - a fairly light launch and the throttle opens up quicker than Paris Hiltons legs on a home made movie. As the revs climb, so does my grin as the wheels chirp to life and are really being pushed to maintain grip. Grin factor - +5. What used to be a rather dull 1st gear now instils fear into all of those other drivers around you as you quickly race away.

I snatch for 2nd gear and I think my wheels are beginning to spin the world the opposite way. I could be wrong but I think my speedo was climbing even faster than my tacho?!? I hit the speed limit in the blink of an eye and I ease back off as there are more speed cameras around the area where I am than there are Christmas lights in the north pole. Grin factor is no +20 and I don't think I could grin any more, even my double chin has vanished from sight and is now sitting somewhere around my ears!

Guy Harding and the crew from hp - thankyou for bringing such a great product to us, and Dean and the rest of the crew from volkspower, I'm sure you'll be seeing plenty more fo me. I'd have no problems in giving you guys a reference for any potential customers, and I look forward to alot of future business between us. It's even worth a trip to just go out and see these guys as there is always an amazing assortment of cars in their garage.

If anyone around Melbourne is thinking of doing it, drop me a PM and I'll be only to happy to take you for a spin. Unfortunately I didn't get time to do a dyno before and after - but I don't need a bit of paper. Bang for your buck, IMO it is by far the best modification I have ever done.

Thats great to hear 99!! I am happy for you mate.
Volkspower must have some good neighbours in the area. Last November we had a GTI thing there one saturday arvo and cars were being driven hard around the area for a few hours.
Thats the best news though, knowing you are happy with your investment!
Cheers, and enjoy your weekend, Andrew

Hey Neil, I would love to be able to make it over there this year but its slim pickings at the moment. Th e run would be fantastic and I love the Great Ocean Road. I did it a few years ago in my old Kombi, Yuk!!!
I can organise stickers for you if you want.
Cheers, and enjoy that Gti mate. I wish they had had Jazz blue in the Mk5s!!
