Cotton or Foam Air Filter for your Mk4 GTI

    Hi All,

Just wanting to reach out your experiences / advice with the use of Cotton vs Foam Air Filter.

The good the bad the ugly.

    THanks,

    Jamie

Use the search function of the forum, it has been done here to the death.
IMO, stick with the OEM filter, there is not much you can gain by replacing it with something that flows better for a while, while at the same time allowing more dirt going through the engine and wearing it out. It's short time minor improvement vs. wear .

I used a OEM filter on my Polo GTI (APR tuned), now on my GTI I'm still going to use the OEM filter even though I'm using a K03S/3 inch exhaust and finally tuned.
OEM filter is more than adequate.

Thanks guys, sorry should have looked at that first (Search). I was merely looking at the angle of by a re-cleanable filter and keep tit for life so to speak. I will just continue using the paper filter. Thanks to everyone for their responses. I am new to the VW world and am very thankful for everyone's advice.
