    Coralons Bora Build

Well been around for a little while so thought I may as well start a little build thread to help document things. This car was previously owned by a forum member who has moved on so has a previous build thread and a good service history, I am the 4th owner of the vehicle since it began its days in Sydney. Car has lived in 3 states now, sitting on about 166k and besides the usual rattles and knocks associated with age and wear it is in pretty good condition, of course that will get better over time.

The list of mods done so far are subtle and as they are previously documented I will just go over a couple to give an idea of what is already crossed off the 'Performance Oriented Daily Driver' list:

Bilstien B8s wrapped in Eibach Pro Kit -40mm
    Tyrolsport Brake Stiffening
Nuspeed 25mm rear sway with adjustable links
    Nuspeed lower strut brace
    Older style 18x8 RS4 reps
    Custom Code phase 1 tune
    DG Short Shift
    Yellow pendulum mount
    Decent aftermarket headset/amp/speakers

Car came to me in decent condition, a few hidden gremlins such as the lower mounts for the front bumper being broken, some slight peeling of the chrome strips on the drivers door and passenger rear plus in solid need of a good service. The front guard liners were also totally fooked and there was and still is to this day a knock in the rear suspension somewhere. So thats the history, on with whats happened in the last 6 months...

First thing was new coils, plugs, oil, diff fluid, brake bleed, cleaned the throttle body and then added this ghetto setup

This improved the sound of the engine and exhaust immensely, also a nice bit of throttle responsiveness that can make second gear quite violent which I do enjoy.

Car drove to Melbourne for my move at which time I replaced the fooked guard liners, no more nasties getting flung off the wheels into the engine bay and the car is 2kg lighter from removing dirt buildup

Next was a dodgy joey mod on the already very shagged lights, these are beyond refurbishing with broken clips on both lights for the indicator/fog covers and UV damage so bad the plastic has started to crack in places

You can see the damage I did to the reflective surface with masking tape in this pic, bottom and far side of the main reflector

Today this arrived, wonder what it could be...

Well hello there mister R32 exhaust

Now to get it fit and scare the kiddies

Headlights dont look too bad in regards to that damage! hmmm maybe I should full joey mod mine, in the pics I've seen it looks to much on a black car, but yours pulls it off!!

Where did you buy the intake... I want something like that for mine for a laugh

The lights really do work, I am quite happy with them and dont think it is too much on a black car, just use a gloss black paint $3.45 from supercheap

The intake is a silicon joiner and a 30cm piece of chrome look plastic pipe from autobarn with a 3" filter stuck on the end. Temps when moving are cooler than the stock box but it really needs to be moved into the bumper... a job for another day.

Nice one man, will be watching this and be sure and keep it updated often as I love reading Bora Builds.

As i've done mine (poorly too) I will be watching your R32 zorst fitment with very keen eyes. What have you decided with regards tip placement, rear guard/valance setup, pancake replacement, resonator, flapper actuation, etc?

Just watch for the water pickup in the guard. Something to be wary of

Going to try for an OEM fit with the stock twin pipes (and hopefully salvaging the oettinger tips I have at the moment) by getting the drivers side rerouted just inside the read bumper to the left. Will be setting the flapper on a switch to start in stealth mode allowing me to open it up and close it again on the fly, also going for a nice OEM+ fit for this, will make sure there are plenty of pics

i was a muppet, i had my flapper tack-welded shut instead of open like i wanted so make sure you test it first. Also have a think about if re-routing the driver side pipe will cause flow issues.

Will be very curious to watch what you do with the flapper switch.

Yeah I will be looking at options for the second outlet, really dont want the R32 look on the car and I am very wary of the cabin noise dump pipes make so getting the drivers side rerouted seems the best option. Surely 2 mandrel bends shouldnt cause flow issues after the rear muffler?

was more thinking pipe length until it hits open air, but i know almost as much about exhaust flow as i do about my own job

as for dump, I was told the reverb wasn't too bad. and heck, we all love the VR sound.

I'm interested to see what you'll do with the exhaust dude.. I'm not a huge fan of that one hidden pipe with R32s on Boras so rerouting it to the left may be the easiest clean option.
