Coolant leak from drives side of engine 1.8t

did some searching but seems like the comon coolant leaks from the 1.8T is from the coolant flange near the shifter and the Y pipe near the coolant bottle...

iv got a slow leak from the right side of the engine (drivers side).. drips onto the right side of the oil pan..
any ideas on what is above that?

iv checked the hoses going from the bottle and all seem fine and no pink dryed coolant around.

very hard to see because it doesnt leak hard enough...

water pump very common on them....look at the bottom of the cambelt cover near the sump...there is a black metal trim thats near the crank...usually drips off there......VDUB...

thanks.. yeh i can see it drip off that cover!

damn i only changed my water pump about 50,000k's ago..
is there a way to test it is the pump for certain? like applying pressure somehow?

been reading the thermostat housing and o-ring can fail too.. but havn't checked the location of that yet

Depends on the quality of the water pump, though.

Thermostat housing is in behind the alternator, from memory. Pretty sure it's plastic, so it'll be prone to a warped and leaking flange.

best way would to pull off the cambelt covers just to make sure before you pull off the belt

I can get the aluminum coolant flanges and aluminum water pump for 1.8T
