You could have gone with a solid flywheel and VR6 clutch kit for less but otherwise nothing to get a face on about.

Jimmy could have probably saved you some money overall.

I looked into the single mass flywheel. You have to wonder why the German engineers decided to go they way they did, vibration must have been a big enough issue for them. Maybe the box would not handle the vibs etc, would the harmonic balancer be put off etc etc.
My mechanic said he would not entertain the idea.
And most of all I just could not live with any more vibration in the cabin.

Maybe someone here would be a bit cheaper but I like the service I get from Lawrence at German Autos.

Oh and for the OP. The pickup point is about 1/4 to 1/3 from the floor. Is as light as a feather.
The clutch gets heavier as it wears and the pick up point moves closer to the top of the pedal. Before mine finally completely died last week it grabbed about 2cm from the top.

Without a doubt they are smoother but it's not that bad. I know you don't change them everyday but the DM is just so expensive. If you are a penny pinching Yorkshireman like me!

In the pursuit of refinement at 110Kw they are fine but if the car is chipped then there's a good chance it'll fall over much sooner than a SMF.

Shaneth's Polo lasted precisely 5 minutes with a chipped ECU. 4 of those were backing it out of the drive.

I managed to get to 111,000km with a chip. I doubt I'll still have it when it clicks 222,000km.
