    is you car dbw?
what angle was it opening to before vs now?
180g/s is a very good reading!
i'm not positive on the numbers, they are just what i remember being said. (i don't have vag com gear)
and yeah i don't know what angles it was showing before and after either...
but yeah an expensive part to replace i found out, fortunately i didn't pay anywhere near the 1100 odd price a dealer apparently sells em for

just read through few 1st posts, you sure you didn't stuff something up when you did this:

"only other thing i can think of is i might have pulled on the two cables that go past the air box, one of which i think is the throttle cable, and perhaps i've limited the max throttle position??"

this got me thinking, im not sure if this can happen but it could be that over time the throttle cable elongates its self and even if the accelerator pedal is all the way down the throttle plate isn't at its limit of travel.
did you by any chance test if the throttle cable was moving the throttle plate to its limit?
im gonna check mine tonight, i got max 84.2 deg on vagcom
    what's everyone else getting?
pretty sure you can get a reading without driving the car at WOT to check this.
just hook up your vagcom, ignition on and step on the accelerator

yeah i thought about that, who knows, maybe.
interesting no-one else has any comments on my throttle body!
gonna wait a couple of weeks before i try check it again on a dyno, just incase the problem gradually reappears without me realising.
unfortunately it won't be as hot as last time i did it (30-40 degrees) so won't be easy to compare. i swear my car is really sensitive to temp, today was a bit warmer and performance felt pretty average...

Heat soak and inlet temps is a major player in lost power. I lost nearly 40hp due to heatsoak on my chipped G60.

Good reason i never is the fact that the stopper is to the right and if you accidently pulled on the cable it would pull the cable outer away from the stop, this would pull on the throttle, opposite to what has been suggested here.

Its quite interesting to read some of the responses on here . As unusual as the problem was the solution was equally as strange . The Throttle body was reset and basic settings carried out each time a change was made . It always read 84.3 % at WOT . Cable was checked and it had full throttle . IAT's were fine registering in the mid 40s at WOT . Maf was changed 3 times . It logged mid 140's .
After throttle body was changed the MAF peaked at 181 and throttle response increased dramatically . The throttle body will probably work on a stock car but not a chipped one .

Temperature affects the cars dramatically when running the side mount . Once you get over 50Deg intake air temps the tune lowers the boost . With a factory car it actually raises the boost to keep the power linear . A good front mount is required to keep temperatures below 50deg

How effective is something like the APR SMIC (they claim something like 3x the surface area compared to the standard one)?
    Nothing to see here...

is this a measured throttle response (if there is such a thing), or just from feel?
i've noticed myself that throttle response is a lot better. makes the car seem much lighter when taking off. just blipping the throttle in neutral makes it rev pretty much straight away, whereas before there was more of a delay.

can't see myself getting a front mount! might get around do doing the TT or ghetto wheel guard venting to help the side mount cool better though... maybe won't bother untill summer.
might clean the intercooler out at some stage too...

doesn't make any sence to me, there might have been a leak at the throttle body or the IAT sensor was faulty giving incorect temps but that would have thrown a code.
Seb, i don't know how you worked that out it was the tb

140/181? if thats what you're refering to is the maf airflow reading in g/s.
181 is roughly 226hp, what mods have you done?
