Cast TT control atm and hubs upgrade?

    Hello,

I was digging around on the uk forums and came across this thread which was talking about installing the control arms, hubs, and associated gear from a mk1 TT.

Getting rid of understeer, the story continues - uk-mkivs

They were high fiving about all there understeer problems being solved... can anyone explain how this would fix understeer?

Or are they confusing it with the age old mk4 golf handling discussion in where they have lowered there car and inducing positive camber. Thus when they change over to the TT hubs, it drops the front by 1" and fixes the camber/control arm angle issue of having the lowered suspension?

Anyone installed this by any chance?

Rayray did a similar thing on his a3 (same as mk4), but was to help with lowering.

    Thanks Dylan.

In the parts list I just want to clarify some of the parts..

Pair of Mk1 TT Steering Arms
Pair of Mk1 TT Steering Track Rod Ends
Does the steering arm and track rod end refer to a tie rod assembly like in this picture? Or is it something else?

Pair of Defcon sleeves for the Front bushes
    Hmm found them... http://www.mcpii.com/SuspDEFCON.html#anchor_39

    Pair of ABS Sensors
Can I reuse my abs sensors already on my golf?

    Answered: Yes

Pair of Outer CV Boot Kits
Can I reuse my CV boots on the golf?

Have a look at this post from another website (and reposted from VW Vortex) about why the original TT control arms were changed. If you're interested, there is a lot more info of MkIV Golf (and earlier) suspension behaviour linked in this thread - Does your VAG handle? It depends...

The Defcon inserts give the same effect as the original TT control arms. I know a guy in the US who had them fitted and he raves about the improved steering response but he also tracks his car so he can deal with the less forgiving nature of them

Thanks for the information kaanage. I think I should rethink that modification.

Ultimately Ill just stick to getting the Shine suspension setup.

I dont really feel like writing off myself and the car by replacing the control arms.
