Hey mate,
I got a spare key cut about 6 months ago and, from memory, it was around $208 +$60 to be programmed. This was for the plain key, no remote functions. The remote control key was around $450-500 from memory.

cheers this is exactly what i was after
if i buy the car and theres no 2nd key im gona get them to drop the price a bit
exactly what I should have done......no second key came with the car and I didnt even think of asking at the time
a lesson for next time!
I think you'll probably have to buy the actual key from VW, then they will have to program it. Get your wallet ready

I will have mk4/mk5 keyfob+blade available soon. OEM and considerably cheaper, maybe 40-50% cheaper!
You will need to get the blade cut here, $30-60 + the responder chip programmed with vw but it would knock the cost of a spare key down considerably in comparison from VW Direct.
What’s behind you doesn’t matter..
not sure if this makes mine cheaper but my GTI only has the key + light not the keyless entry. Still the same process?
