Buying pads & discs - advice

    Afternoon all,

My tax money isn't far away and I want to use a bit of it to buy new pads & discs for my Bora. I've never serviced my own car before so naturally I'm new to buying parts.

Where should I be looking to buy my brake parts, and which brands do I need to be looking at and avoiding? I know the disc size for my front and rear but not sure how to go about pads?

    Cheers all

If you haven't serviced your own car before then why do you feel confident (and tooled-up) to change the brakes?

Forum sponsor GLS RallySport is the place for parts.

I've done minor work on cars before, very basic stuff like installing fog lights etc - I'm not the most handy guy around (not useless either!) but based on some reading and YouTube videos it does not look overly difficult. The only way for me to learn and become better at this is to give it a crack for myself - I won't get anywhere paying people for this type of thing. Tooling/equipment wise, I just need a set of stands and I'm set.

Canberra VW Centre is where I take the car, but as I said - for this type of thing I want to be able to do it myself to save a bit of coin and because I have an interest in cars which I've never explored.

Will check out GLS RallySport too, ta.

I get discs and pads from ABS - they are fine, work well and not expensive - I run 312mm TT discs on the front, no issues with their service

Can vouch for GSL RallySport. They managed to find the right parts when internet misinformation (bad cross reference guides) told me to get the wrong pads! Have purchased off them a few times and the service was always excellent.
