I remember test driving the mk4 R32 - (similar-ish spec-wise) when it came out and Solitaire in Adelaide had them priced around $75,000 ... Just curious what the fully optioned Bora Sport was worth back in the day - was it a $70,000 car?

my gti is the first FWD car ive owned in... 9 years... whilst i love driving it, i really am not comfortable going hard in the wet, and traction is a massive issue without awesome tyres and crap road surfaces.

but at the end of the day, i was downsizing from an XR8 pursuit and i wanted to go back to a turbo setup and something small. the GTI ticks *most* boxes for me.

No chit. I'm used to US prices and a HUGE VAG scene. I picked up my knock off Oettinger grille for $40 shipped and had it, my lower valances, and drivers side door lock delete sanded, colour matched and clear coated for $30...

at least I can say the people I've met in the VW scene here and there are good people.

75 grand when it came out ? That's nuts, especially considering new R's are like 10 grand less....

and no, i don't think a fully specced bora sport would fetch 70. I was already stunned when previous owner of my non-sport 4motion told me it was 55 drive away when she got it twelve years ago.

I think VW AUS dropped prices on most models a couple of years later - might have been something to do with the value of the AUS $ at the time.

    I think the 02 non-sport 4mo was somewhere around 60G.

That's the vibe i get from most people, and I'm not expecting it too be the best car i have owned. Just after a clean/ reliable daily, that i can mod slowly and cheaply. And I'd be stoked to get back in a Dub.

V6 boras always feel heavy IMO. I would get chipped GTI mk4, or v5 bora.
