    busted door mirror removal

Currently im babysitting my brothers golf Mrk4 sport while he is overseas, which is turning out to be a bit of fun to boot around in. But just before he left someone has broken his mirror by pushing down on it, and bust the black plastic mount at the swivel. Now its just hanging down the door.

Is there any easy way to unplug the electric mirror to stop it rubbing up the door? preferably without cutting the wires.

and is there a writeup on replacing the mirror? i think i would prefer to wait until i had a replacement to removal it all, so disconnecting now is a priority.

    Thanks

This should point you in the right direction - it's not exactly easy, but it doesn't involve cutting any wires.

Thanks for that Rolfgolf, pretty much what i was expecting from reading around. I was hoping i didn't have to pull the door trim off, but looks like there is no choice.

From reading it looks like the coloured covers area inter-changeable so i dont have to worry too much about what colour mirror i buy. Can any one confirm this for me?

As long as you grab mirrors/covers for a mk4 you'll be okay. eBay is worth a shot (local and uk) - and you might want to check out dealer pricing too.

    Cheers.
