Bora's Big repair bill - do i repair or sell?

I am fairly certain I know the answer here, but i'll be getting the dub community's collective thoughts anyway.

We've probably all been in this scenario. My Bora 4Mo was bought at a damn cheap price, has logged 160K kms now, paint work isn't the best and could do with more TLC than i've given it so far, but mechanically she is pretty good - or was, until my clutch slave cylinder gave up.

As most would know, the slave cylinder is right up against the throw-out bearing and lives inside the damn gearbox, so to replace a relatively cheap part we're talking a fairly big labour bill to drop the gbox and replace. So most folks do the sensible thing and replace clutch and often the Dual Mass Fly Wheel at this stage too.

As my future plans for the car (if she is kept) include fitting a stage 2 Vortech Supercharger then my clutch and flywheel replacement would cater for that mod, and really the price diff is bugger all between oem and stage 2/3 clutches. Jury is still out on SMFW or DMFW.

So, the question (helped by a poll) is do i keep the bora and repair her, or sell her unrepaired, or repair and sell and cut the losses?

If you simply try and sell it unrepaired you'll probably find it hard to sell and certainly harder to get any decent amount of $$

If you repair it then you may as well keep it because if you then sell it you'll ultimately end up spending more money on the purchase of your new car!

Plus i want to see this car boosted :p

as above. I think you'll find it hard to sell for a good $ when its not in working condition.
Even if you are going to sell id say you better off getting it repaired anyway... Just up to you then if its oem or something upgraded

What would a replacement car that makes you as happy as the Bora does cost you?

Add that to the $2k to find the REAL cost of fixing and flogging off (you'll get a pittance for it if you try to sell as is, so not repairing it really isn't an option).
    Nothing to see here...

4 motion is a BIG plus in my opinion, and to get something else AWD is going to cost.
So too I can appreciate getting tired of a car and lusting after something different. Really depends on what you COULD replace it with, for instance if you decided a MKV GTI would be a good upgrade, they can be had for a good price these days and it's a lot of bang for buck. BUT it is a FWD....I reckon it depends on what you think your options are.
