Sorry mate, there was way too much going on before they were shutting up. If I go back out tomorrow, I can ask for you.. Also, how much exactly of the vents? Is it just the visible bits at the front, plus what's connected to them?

The front door cards will fit. The rears won't but you can remove the leather section of the door card and install it into yours.

Your MK4 didn't come with seat mounted airbags, so the V5 airbags will sit there unplugged.

While you're thinking about it - buy the heated seat controllers from the wrecker and combine it with a harness to make your butt toasty.

    Grab the armrest too.
    Thanks YDG!
Yeah, when I head back out there, I'll take my rear seat out & compare.

I still can't see where this bit is different (at the base where it hinges the back of the seat forward), where one of the guys says that the little bits from the bora need to be welded over to the golf?!?!?!

I was thinking the same thing with the door cards, as long as I get the leather insert, I should be able to make use of it.

I'm fine to just leave the airbags unplugged. Done.

With the heated seats, what can I get from the Bora wreck? Just the 'dials' that control them? Or can I get the wiring from that too? Is there anything else needed besides the wiring harness and the controllers/dials?

Armrest was definitely spotted, and on the list!

Like GL and Dylan say, I'm pretty sure it'll be fine and a simple install. As I said, it's such a quick job to remove the rears it's worth a quick look. As a plus, if there's no rear seats in your car there'll be more room to carry the leather home.

I used a hot glue gun to install my bora leather door cards. You can pick one up for <$20.

The controllers pop out of the dash and are a thirty second job to remove. Grab them just in case you decide to wire up the seats later.

As for the wiring? I'm not sure how integrated the harness is from the factory, but it'll probably be hard to extricate. I bought my harness from kufatec and it's OEM quality. It's not a straight forward job to install, but worth the effort on a cold winter morning I wouldn't recommend it if you're unfamiliar with electrical systems, but if you're patient and careful it's definitely doable.

Thanks for the reply Matt. No issues with the the rear seat 'hinge' area? nothing need welding from the bora to the golf??

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing after finding this pic of the difference in door cards from a UK forum..

yeah, seems like a hassle to get them hooked up, I'll leave them unplugged.

Yeah Matt, I was wondering if you had any seats and trim a while back when I started looking again, but wasn't sure where we stood after we got our wires crossed when I picked up my engine after the swap. Hope all is good, and I'd be interested to know what you had. The leather might be a bit much for me, and wondered if you still had those Black/Grey 'sport' cloth seats still out there.. (in a silver golf 'generation'?). Not keen on the Black/Red GTI ones like Oli's, they're a bit too worn as well. I like the shape, but hate the red. Let me know, I have the day off tomorrow.

I think the later model MK4 golfs had the BLK/GRY panel in the middle instead of the BLK/RED (not sure if they're even recaros like the red, but they are made to look like them, also don't have the embroidered 'recaro'). That's probably what I'm after. Like these (a bit cleaner maybe ):

Also, looking at getting all interior along with it, so all is black, carpet and other black trim, like glovebox, center console etc. etc. See how it's looking money wise, I'm supposed to be looking at getting some scratches fixed up instead with the money!

Also, I spotted the V5 Bora Sport had nicer, larger rear brakes. Just out of curiosity, and learning more, can you swap those over to be golf rear brakes? Anyone know anything about this?

Front and rear Seats fit no mods. Full stop.
Get carpet, all plastics and door trims. Lot of effort to wire up heated seats. You'd never use the factory harness, make your own.
Rear vented brakes are probably too much arse, rear carriers and calipers at a minimum.

    Thanks mate.
Confident that you know your stuff. Done.

If I grab that style of seats, I'll grab the heated seat control dials/switches while I'm there, but might leave the heated project for another day, even though I know my electrics well enough.

If I'm not working on my door, I might give you a call tomorrow, go for a drive & see what you have out there?

speaking of heated seats: i have some to go into my car , along with the switches/controllers, but no wiring.

Is there a harness i can get like this:
Heated Seat Repair Harness 99 5 05 VW Jetta Golf GTI MK4 Recall FIX OE NEW | eBay

or is there more to it than that?

Nice one Stan, dare say you'll make more use out of the heated seats down there! The one you've chosen is def cheaper than the other one, but the other one (that YDG posted above) seems to have much more/longer wiring, and several more plugs, seeming like the complete loom. Here is the larger image of it that won't load very well on the site:

I'll take a look at the connectors behind the plugs for you today if I go looking.. Let me know anything else you want to know while I'm there Stan!

    that's awesome Ken thanks!
I just need the correct wiring to get it to function and to know where the plugs and wires go.
Obviously into the seat plugs and into the dash plugs, but where does it pick up power etc...
Seats have airbags as well, but I wont be bothered setting them up, as my car doesnt have them, so I dont need any wiring that does that -if it is all in the one loom then i can tuck it away.
    cheers
