Hi Guys,

Unfortunately our 2003 Golf was caught in the massive hail storm in Perth the other week. Its sustained damage to the roof, bonnet, hatch section, front guards and at the top of each of the doors. My insurance company told me i could either take it to manheimfowles this saturday for it to be inspected or i could try and find a panel shop that would give me a quote. I went and got a quote today and apparently its sustained approx $7000 damage. The car is insured for about 13k. I was a bit concerned about how they plan to repair the car and im worried it wont come back the same car. They're talking about replacing the roof, bonnet and then trying to remove the dents to the rest of the car. they thought they'd respray about 75% of the car.

My worries are:

- Cutting the roof off cant be a good thing
- only respraying 75% of the panels on a 7 year old car will mean the other panels that havent been sprayed will standout
- Are they just slightly under quoting on the damage because they know they'll get the job and the car wont be written off.

Has anyone had experience with this or been through the same process?

I really feel that the car should be a write off. I just know if i get it back after being repaired i wont be happy with it and it will be sent back time after time.

Thanks guys,

Mike
