mate grab yourself a bargain and pick up the H&R springs Pete Jones is selling on here
Thanks for the info and pics, as you know I've been eagerly awaiting the results, looks sweet man and by the sounds of it the ride is where you want it to be....I think you've convinced me to go with the B8/Pro Kit setup over coilovers. I'll hopefully order next week, hoping to source a RSB too

VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life
There are few things more satisfying in life than finding a solution to a problem and implementing it

You lucky bugger! I'd love to go for a ride but know it'd just make me realise how shagged my suspension is in my Golf.
I love the fact that you've taken no short cuts. Good stuff!

Good stuff David, great to see you've used good quality stuff, it must handle a treat.
I think I remember seeing a yellow 1600 Accurate Suspension prepared a few years back at Mt. Cotton hill climb. From memory it was a monster!

My Mk1 Project
Yeah I've seen them....for $300 second hand it aint that good a deal. I've sourced an Eibach Pro Kit for $320 delivered - better springs than H&R apparently and brand spanking new From what I have read in other forums comparing various combos the Eibach + Bilstein is the winning combo!
Pete's springs are 4 motion and won't go in a 2wd.

Glad I could help Adrian. If you happen to decide on a better setup then by all means, as coilovers will certainly offer you even sharper handling than this setup. But I personally didn't want it to be rock hard everytime I got in the car. B4B I'd say this is pretty good and offers a great compromise between performance and comfort. Fat rear bar FTW... and for those who've asked, it is now somewhere in the vicinity of 600% stiffer than stock! (15mm > 25mm) Nuts!
Yes very happy, nice that it no longer skips sideways mid-corner like the old suspension used to
And you're absolutely right, as that yellow monster is actually Ken's own car he runs at Mt Cotton. It was originally running a worked 200B engine stroked to 2.4l, but it now has a twin-cam KA24 (aka JDM Bluebird SSS engine) tucked away under the bonnet. That engine in a stripped-out Datto 1600... I'd say Monster is just about right!

I dont want an ass-breaking ride, just something better than stock and lowered, that's the main criteria, and from what you've said and from the pics the setup looks perfect for me! Should be cashed up next week and thinking about spending money is getting me rather excited
