Hi,
My 2002 Bora V5 has an occasional whining noise at idle, the best way to describe it is the sound you get when running a wet finger around the rim of a wine glass! It is not constant, seem to change tone then stops if I accelerate. Yesterday I found that if I hit Econ then it stops instantly.
Is this likely to be a fan or the air con compressor? Doesn't sound like the squeal of a belt slipping.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Adam
Any thoughts on this?
I have been running without the aircon on for the last week and there has been no noise, today I went out at lunchtime and it was hot so needed it on, almost as soon as I put it on it started whining again, still only at low rpm. Now either it is one of the fans attempting to move but can't or .... ?
I am hoping it is not the compressor itself. The air isn't very cold either. Could this be a sign it needs regassing? I am not sure what the symptoms are for that.
