Bora R32 Build Thread

How do you find the R32 shocks and springs Gez? I'm tossing up between running R32 gear or coilovers (purely from a pricing point)

It's my daily drive so I don't really need anything crazy low or adjustable... well not yet anyways.

I think they're a good improvement over the standard Bora 4mo shocks and springs. You get a very slight ride height drop but a firmer, less bouncy, ride. Given you've got everything you need, i'd go for it. Very easy to do, just drop the entire front sub frame including the front struts.

Thanks Gez, that sounds like exactly what I'm after. Firmer, with a little drop. I'll be changing any bushes/mounts as I could my only concern is the shocks/spring from this R32 have done about 150,000kms. Which is not bad, but it's certainly not great given everything else will be new.

And then there was one... donor Bora has left the building. Spent the weekend playing muscial rims and reclaiming my yard and shed.

They should be ok, it really depends how the car has be driven. Mine had done 80k when I fitted them, 20k later they're still fine. My stock 4mo shocks had done 240k and where still ok.

Originally I thought I'd keep them black but changed my mind after seeing up close. So I'm tossing up between stock or gunmetal, like the set Hawk had recently pictured below.

So before the donor Bora left my place I had the chance to pull the heatshield and exhaust off. 3'' BBE (BillyBoat Exhausts) stainless steel mated to a Magnaflow muffler with twin R32 style Xforce tips.

It was obvious this thing had been running on the dirty roads and was in need of some love.

Having never heard of BBE I probably wouldn't never have bought one (bit of goofy name too, BillyBoat?) but after seeing the product up close it's definitely the business. The welds are beautiful

I also noticed from the donor Bora the previous owner did a bit of hack job on the heat shield to clear the larger pipe so whilst I had all the gear out I tied that up as well.

I literally found myself watching about half a dozen of their videos - the work is stunning and the use of dimpling to improve airflow is just next level.

That exhaust came up a treat - was it just metal polish you used? Looks fantastic. It's just so satisfying when you start with something that looks like a piece of scrap and achieve results like that!
