Bora makes 'tick tock' indicator noise randomly

Went for a cruise this arvo and the car started doing a very quick 'tick tock' noise after I'd do a turn but each time after I used the indicator... Anyone else experience this ?

kinda sounds like one of your indicator lights are out.

That's what I thought, but it does it for either left or right

It will most likely be your indicator relay. The relay is in the hazard light switch, all comes in one unit. Not a very expensive part to replace.

I've got a spare one here if you're interested. But I really think the stalk is on the way out.

Had a similar experience once, probably the hazard light / relay switch as per above. Fortunately it only happened a couple of times and then went away again...

Has any of the goo you mentioned in the other thread run down the back of the dash? I had a leak in my windscreen seal about the same time which I think might have been the cause (although just as likely to be unrelated!) but once it was resealed everything was fine again.

    thanks guys

geoff--no, goo hasn't run down back of dash yet; hoping to fit mirror soon (just need to find easy guide to follow or get local garage to help)

umai--how much are you after ?

Before you commit to a hazard light switch, go out to the car, and with the igniton on, just lightly touch the stalk in the up and down directions. If the blinkers start working erratically, you'll need a stalk. I've been through this before, hence the spare hazard light switch.

See how you go. If you still need the hazard light switch, PM me.

righto. I don't think it's the stalk-- indicators blink normally... i reckon it's the relay

are the relays easy to install / DIY ? or would i have to go and get some pro help ?

Pull out the old relay, put the new one in easy as pie! Easier than changing a light bulb, all you need access to is the fuse box.
