I"ve decided to get the exhaust custom

Just got a few more questions. Firstly, I'd like to link this video

    YouTube - Bora R32 Parkplatz

Is there a place in Melbourne that will sell me a new rear bumper so that I can get two pipes, one on either end to sit flush without having to cut my bumper now to accommodate?

Because I don't want it to look strange and I'm not a fan of cutting my bumper I have now...

If not, I'll stick with the same style of tip, dual pipes on the left.

EDIT: Alternatively, the rear plastic lip, without the precut hole, would do aswell

    Thanks
    Adam

I have been unable to find any premade body kits in oz, even just the rear valance which is what you are looking for. There are many places overseas where you can buy them but shipping cost will make the part seem cheap.

Good choice on going for a custom exhaust, that way you can get exactly what you want and maybe even save a bit of coin!

Just a few notes from what i've found in the past. The stock system i believe is around 2.5" mostly mandrel bent with a few crushed sections, its a good pipe diameter size for an aftermarket one as you'll be able to get rid of those crush sections (especially the nasty one under the diff)

Make sure you get mandrel bent pipe!

Dont get too many resonators, i've had 3 different exhausts and one that was too loud i added two hotdog resonators to try and quieten it down. It didn't really quiten it rather just make it a whole lot deeper and more penetrating so kind of did the opposite. That said do use a resonator otherwise it can be pretty raspy (altohugh some people love this rasp).

Good quality mufflers will flow well and keep noise down. There's a great Autospeed article out there which references over a dozen different mufflers and their performance, flow, sound level etc. One of the best i believe was the Genie *something* - now made by lukey under a different name.

Personally i find the VR6 can be a LOUD motor but it doesnt have to be and also sounds like porn so get the right bits and you'll love it!!

edit: Found the autospeed article http://autospeed.com.au/cms/title_Gi...1/article.html

Alright, no problem. I've looked around the internet viciously on body kit sites and such and found nothing, well, mostly crap. (Looking for the rear lip of course, not for a new bumper).
I've called a few places reccomeneded in the parts and repairers section of the forum also with no luck.

So with that, ive decided to keep to the same style. Dual tip on the left, not having to modify the rear of the car.

Thanks for the tips WhO, they will not go unnoticed, actually I plan to call my mech on friday, putting forward the ideas and I'll pretty much send him this thread

Pretty much, the sound I'm looking for, is the sound that is heard in the videos I've linked, they all sound the same and they all sound amazing
But, do you think the exhausts on those bora's I've linked are actual Mk4 R32 exhausts or just custom ones with the R32 styling at the back?

This is called the rear valance, you can buy them overseas

Most of the exhausts you see on youtube are R32 ones or as you say the same setup. A custom shouldnt be much different but may have a different note depending on the setup you go for.

Ahh I see, is there any webistes you can link me too?
Or am I going to resort to the stealership? haha

Regardless, I do like the stock setup, but if I can get a valance to custom cut it would be awesome xD

Yeah, hopefully I can get it to sound somewhat similar, I don't think it would be TOO hard I imagine

You take this... Heckansatz GLI-Style Clean, VW Bora SRS-AVWG4-A02ic - [SRS-Tec GmbH Germany]

Install it, then while it has no pics the underlying idea is too basic to miss... VWVortex.com - The T0oDamnFast Stock Rear Valence Mod

Then remove, paint, reinstall... cry about how much shipping cost you, call your mum so she can say how proud she is...

My mum always said I was special... like special ed

You weren't joking about the crying, that's an expensive piece of kit xD

But, I'll try my best to get the valance here and installed for the bora, it sure will look excellent once its done if I go down that road.
But for a little bit of background info, I'm 18 and my parents are helping out with the exhaust, so I apologize if I don't go ahead with the valance option, but I'll try

Thanks for the links Caralon, I would have never been able to find them

    Hey guys

Been a little while, but I just picked her up
Got it done at a mates of my mech's

    Professional Exhaust
I really reccomend these guys, they did a brilliant job

They did a EXCELLENT job, 2.25" from cat with a hot dog and a resonator, then to a 3" dual jet tip. (Tip looks the same as the stock one, just on a bigger scale)

I cannot explain how this thing sounds, just amazing haha

I'll get a video up in the next few days.

    Thanks
    Adam.
