    Bora, A/C stuffed

Had the mobile guy out today to regas my '01 Bora - trouble is it is still full of gas - around 200PSI on the 'high' side.

The compressor is kicking in okay, system just blows hot air. The guy said there was no suction on the inlet side, i.e. compressor probably stuffed.
Thing is - it has been working up until very recently - it's just dropped off in coolness over the last 2-3 months until it just gave up cooling.
Seeing as it is basically full of gas and just not pumping, I'm wondering what actually has gone wrong in there?

I read horror stories about new units being $1200 or more - surely a re-conditioned unit is the go?
..And all this just as Perth is gonna hit 41 degrees this weekend

I'm a little unhappy right now

    Any suggestions?

I have NFI but if it's the condensor you can pick one up for $130US from ECS. A compressor is about $400US, so I doubt it will cost that much depending on how hard it is to fit and if its a job you could do yourself....

I might investigate a little further as to why the compressor is still managing to make 200psi (not sure on the exact system pressure but normally round 280ish psi) so if its still moving gas then there should be lower pressure on the low side.
Did they mention anything about the TX valve? maybe its not working correctly allowing the wrong amount of refrigerant to pass through the system.
If you do get a new compressor don't forget to get a new reviver dryer too because you will need it once the system gets "opened" and all the parts you can source yourself will make it alot cheeper if your going to pay someone to install it all .

I have a load of Air con parts in my shed from an 98 A3. The compressor is still on the engine and could be the same. Hit me up if you need spares. I have the heater box and all that stuff too.

Yep the compressor is a variable displacement compressor and when it sticks thats it. No fix anywhere. Sorry to say common too. Ping me your Vin and ill check if Gavs compressor will do, that will be a winner and save you a lot. When the guy checked your car the pressure stayed at static at the pressure you mention and should change when he revved and im sure it didnt telling me the control valve is stuck mate. Very common im afraid.
Loads of gas and hot car , smells of it mate
    Cheers
