    Bora Brakes

    Hey Everyone

I wasn't sure whether this should go in this section, but seeing as its a Bora I'm referring too, it seemed logical.
Anyway, to the point of the thread

I'm not very educated on the subject so I thought I'd get some reccomendation's. I'm, in the near future looking at replacing my brake pads, but instead of just leaving the decision with my Dads friend who services the car regularly, I'd like to have more input now that the car has been passed onto myself.

So, is there any brake pads, brands and such that go recommended?
I'm pretty happy with the ones I have now (I don't know the brand, I'm lead to believe they are VW pads), but of course there is always room for improvement

The car details are in my Sig

    Thanks in Advance
    Adam

What kind of driving do you do? I'd say thats probably the biggest determining factor to be honest as personally i found the standard VW pads to be pretty good.

Admittidly i never really tried many different compunds, only the VW standard ones and a Ferodo pads that was meant to be a semi track-spec pad. Personally i found the VW pads quite reasonable, better than the Ferodo ones even on the race track.

That said there's plenty of room for improvement. I'd say if your doing anything more than spirited hills runs i'd try and hunt for a better compund, what that is, i dont know because my std pads lasted ages after which i've now got R32 brakes.

    Hey Adam (good name btw!!)

I recently changed all my rotors and pads, went with APR Deluxe (Ceramic) pads. The main reason for this choice was to reduce/eliminate brake dust on my wheels which was really bad with the pads that were on there before (not sure what they were, probably VW). Well they certainly achieve the goal but at the expense of initial bite, I find I have to stamp in them a bit harder than before but when I do they stop very quickly.

Would I recommend them? I would but they are a trade-off between performance and dust.

    Thanks for the replies guys

Well I'm not particularly concerned about brake dust, I'm leaning more towards performance and noise (noise as in squeaking, that really annoys me : /).
I'm having a look at those APR Deluxe Pads you recommended, they look good xD

I seems there is a lot of choice and research to be done about stuff like this.

EBC green stuff are low on dust and a great performer. They are just a bit weak when cold.
