    Bora Auto swap

I tried to search for the answer but no dice

My V5 Bora has lunched it's auto

It was an AGV coded box

I've got onto a good low k's V5 auto but it's an FDD code

Are these interchangeable? If not are any of the other V5 autos interchangeable?

    Cheers

What I found when replacing the auto in the kids MK4 was that it all comes down too the final drive ratio.
If the final drive is the same you don't need to change the trans ecu.
If it's different you need to change it.
I replaced a ESE code tranny with a FDH code tranny and it worked fine.
I don't know if it is the same for V5 Auto's though.

AGV is the engine code, isn't?

After trying to repair or salvage MK4 Golf/Bora gearboxes on the cheap, my advice is to just get a reco'd one from a transmission specialist with warranty. Even with low kms, a used one is still a stab in the dark as to whether it's any good. At least the reco'd one will be rebuilt, and have upgraded internals.
