I'd love to help but you really need to specify what your looking for? Are you doing it yourself? Do you want to know what it sounds like? What year is your car (it does matter slightly). Heres a decent guide on vortex (its for the 12v though) VWVortex.com - DIY - Replacing timing chains, tensioners and guides on a 12v VR6

They are prone to making some noise !!
Take your oil filler cap off whilst engine is running and you'll crap yourself !!!!
Check for codes such as camshaft timing error which may suggest chain has stretched past specs or tensioner has reached limits
Has the oil been changed ??
If none of these are an issue then I'd suggest it's just normal for a car that's 10 - 15 years old !!!
lots of money to fix ....

The tensioner has a spring and runs off oil pressure .
The oil pump has a spring and bucket which limits oil pressure
The oil pump spring loses its ability to work against engine oil pressure and the car starts running higher oil pressure
Higher oil pressure means the tensioner is pushed harder on the plastic guides which in turn put more pressure on the chains thus wearing the guides quicker .

todays lesson : change oil pump when doing chains .
