What year is the Bora ?
01 had 1 coilpack , 02-04 had individual .
Hi again guys and girls.
So i have been gradually spending money on ye old 4Mo chasing down a rather violent cabin shake/vibration since the start of the year.
Initially there were some badass overheating issues which resulted in me replacing the radiator, water pump and a bunch of hoses and joiners. After this was addressed, there was a real violent cabin shake/vibration. The steering wheel would shake along with the clutch pedal and brake pedal. It was mostly at idle though and it was not running well so i took it to a guy in Shellharbour to have a look at. He hooked it up to his laptop and strait away told me it was missing. We changed the plugs which were in desperate need of changing and it fixed the misfire problem. He took it for a drive and reported the previously mention cabin vibration to which he suggested could be either an engine mount or an issue with the exhaust.
Since then i have replaced the passenger side engine mount and the dogbone mount inserts but the vibration is still there.
Today my partner took it to an exhaust shop to have that looked at and she was told she needed a new coil pack.
Now forgive me for being skeptical but wound'nt this have come up when old m8 down south hooked it up to his VAGCOM or at least be throwing up a CEL?
I'm all for replacing it and eventually i will but i'm kind of sick of throwing money at a problem that i really just want to get sorted.
The vibration is a lot better at idle than is used to be with the new mounts installed but now the vibration is a lot"tighter" feeling and mostly at the 2,500rpm area when accelerating or when under heavy load.
The car does not feel like it used to but having said that, i have barely driven it in the past 12 months due to getting the mk5 GTI so its bound to feel a little bit lifeless after that.
Anyway, do these symptoms scream coil pack?
Are all the VR6 coil packs interchangeable for instance, can i used a MK5 R32 coil pack on my Bora 4Mo?
Where would the best place be in Aus to buy one brand new?
Out of interest, does anyone between Coffs Harbour and the Gold coast have a unit i can borrow for testing purposes?
Cheers

Bug_racer supports the rebellion of the euro revolution
Could be plug leads as well but if it has individual coils that would be a good place to start.
2001 Bora 4 Motion Sport now used by number two son
2011 Skoda Octavia Scout now with Underground Performance tune
2010 Jetta 125 tdi dsg for the misses - Impressed
2006 Polo GTI - Enhanced by some of Gav's magic - Absolutely loving it
I recall that the MAF's gave trouble in the early Boras too. I had problems with mine and after several trips to the stealer I ended up leaving the car for one of the mechanics to take home overnight. The diagnosis and cure was a new MAF.

So the part number is 021905106 and i have found a number of units on evilbay.
Does anyone know if i need to worry about a C at the end of the part number or if i need a DOHC specific part?
Suffix usually indicates an improvement. look up here Volkswagen Teile Katalog (Pats Catalog) Google pictures of both and see if they are physically the same looking
Update...
It was bit the coilpack
Purchased a new one then went throught the rest of the ignition system which made the care sound and feel like it was running better but the vibration was still there only slightly different know.
Had it looked at by a VW guru in Coffs who diagnised it as a missaligned or unbalanced dual mass flywheel.
So i guess i had better save some money or finally give up on spending money on it.
