    Bora 4motion - fuel economy?

I'm thinking of getting a Bora 4motion as my daily and I do over 1000ks a week so fuel economy is something I need to look at. Most of the driving is on country roads but there's some city (Canberra) driving as well. I don't expect 4 cylinder economy but would like to know if the official figures of 11.5 (city) and 6.8 (country) are achievable or a joke.

What do these things get around town and on the open road?

    VR6 motors are always thirsty.

Even the later one in the B7 wasn't particularly frugal.

There probably isn't one thing that can improve the fuel consumption. You'd have to look at things like dirty air filters, tyre pressures, new O2 sensors (exxy $$), wheel alignment - that kind of thing.

Agree but what are 4motion drivers actually getting? I'm after real world numbers not VW promotional numbers.

I was getting on 430km per tank in Sydney traffic running on 98. I found when I installed a K&N SRI that figure rose to about 450-460. I do about 350kms a week for work and my car would get started around 7-10 times a day.

Lucky for for me I don't pay the fuel bill

So you're getting around 13 litres per 100k around town.

Guestimate is 9 litres on the open road which means I'd have to fill up twice a week.

It looks like the V6 isn't the version for me so I might take a late model V5 for a test run.

    Thanks guys for the info.
