Anyone own the Mk4 GTI on the Recode website?

Anyone own the car described here?

    VW Golf GTI k03s Recode

I see the customer details are 'Seb Customer', So possibly a NSW member having work done by Seb at Euro Automotive. maybe..

Just want to see if there is a build thread for the car.

    Thanks.

Re-soldering chips? Don't most tuners flash these days or am I missing something?

Old school ME3.8, not all tuners hardware have the capability to flash them. Some prefer to use different methods.

Cheers Gavin - do they reuse the same chip they take off? Seems like a high potential for damage in that approach.

They reuse the same chip. It can be flashed numerous times. If they stuff things up, the flash chip is a generic AMD AM29F200B which can be easily purchased, flashed and installed on the m3.8.3 ecu with no problems.

They solder in a chip cradle (?) to allow them to install and remove the flash chip easily without the need to desolder and resolder everytime.

I would imagine it would be very tiring work. But its the only way to achieve a 100% custom tune on the m3.8.3.

Thats my old car. I sold it in 2009 with all the mods list apart from the FMIC. I did hear that it needed a rebuild.

Seb worked on it when i had and thereafter. There was no build thread when i had it.

Why did it require a rebuild? Was it generating too much power for the stock engine to handle?

I would have thought k03s would be a safe bet on stock internals..

Spun a main bearing and it started a bottom end knock .
Car was driven hard . It received an LSD and other mods as well .
The owner sold it to another workshop a few years back and havent seen it since
