No, I meant the 2015'er. I probably spent $2.5k on everything to get mine running again, money I'll never see again (you touched on resale). I just love my car and didn't want it to end up as parts when it had so much life left.

Take your time ..... look at what's on the market .... you might find one that's a little better in some areas that your damaged one is ....
For me that was a/c and heater function ....both expensive and difficult to fix. Then all the good bits were swapped and there's one really nice car that's going to give you a much nicer Bora experience ....

thx Stig... Unfortunately I bought it from the original owner, he even had the original receipt from VW Canberra of $67,000 odd.. Everything worked and everything interior wise was immaculate (besides the soft touch plastic scratched)

Going to be hard to replace but I'm out there looking everyday believe me!

What exactly happened to SC Bora .01? Was it cooked in the end?

.01 split a heater hose and overheated .... lost compression over all 4 cyl once cool.
Engine was always a bit weak and had no air and heater function very poor ....
.02 goes like a cut cat .... interior was untouched so Plastics were very good and no rattles ....

If you have the correct series engine in the donor car and the white car is something worth the effort and $$ as it sounds then I'd do the engine swap and get the front end repaired....
I looked at the R32 upgrade but again it's $$$$

Unfortunate but sounds like it was for the best in the end. Did you your temp gauge stay at 90dgr? Or any warning of coolant level low?

Hoping this weekend to strip it down and measure skirts and rails to confirm everything is square this weekend. If so the real fun will begin. I'll upload some pic's as I go through it.

Mine too! I have an inch thick folder of all receipts, bought from original owner. Including original sale receipt for similar money. So cool.

Zero warning .... temp gauge never spiked and coolant sensor didn't trigger ..... going up a hill ECU light came on and then motor switched off .... then there was some steam once car was stopped .... it restarted briefly but didn't run smoothly and once cooled completely never started again ....
as for donor cars and parting it out I found there's only a few parts that are popular .... you will sell the brakes as they fit the basic models and are a good upgrade .... the interior but they aren't worth much !!
I'd keep the afm for a spare maybe the aux belt tensioner.... head light switch ...haldex controller .... fans ??
I gave .01 away just to get it outta the driveway !!!
If you've got a good one to start with and service it I think they are pretty reliable ..... so far .02 has been !!!
1000km on Christmas Day will be the next test for it !!

    LeStig, sounds like mine.
No warning at all, I noticed steam and pulled over (though I was in stop-start traffic, it kept running till I could get it out of the way).

Guage bang on 90. Have replaced sensor since as well as thermostat and found that my fans weren't working either. Irritating that I get a big, loud "SERVICE NOW" message but not a "YOUR FANS ARE BROKEN" or "YOUR CAR IS COOKING" message.
