    Bonnet Micro Switch

    Hi all,
The bonnet micro switch has gone on my car (door open light on dash does not come on when it is opened). I have done a fair bit of googling and there is lots of info about the problem, but I can't find much info about fixing / replacing the switch.
in one forum it says the switches are available separate to the lock mechanism, but I can't find any on int. ebay.
has anyone fixed this problem on their Mk4? Did you just buy the switch or replace the whole lock assembly?
    thanks in advance

Never knew the car even had one. I personally don't think its worth fixing unless you have a habit of leaving the bonnet open before you drive off.

Whereabouts is the switch? Is it built into the lock?
Is there any chance of getting to it and fixing it?

The switch sits at the bottom of the bonnet lock mechanism. If the oil level light comes on, the switch when opened( ie bonnet opened) resets the dash light.
i don't have that problem, but just like everything on my car to work as it should.
i have picked up a couple of micro switches from jay car on the weekend, but it is mounting them that is the issue.
genuine one is only $70 so might go with that option.
the price for the recirculation servo motor (fresh air) is another story, vw want $264 for a motor the size of a cigarette packet.
might live with fresh air only for that price.

Is that the V70 motor ? The one that makes the click click sound near the glove box ? From what I can tell it is a prick to install.

Yes that's the one. I pulled it out today and got it working again. Probably won't last that long but oh we'll.
it is a pain to get too, I pulled the glove box and moved the big wiring loom to get too. Still took about 3 hours to remove and install.
the short answer is it can be done without removing the dash, but it's not the nicest job you'll do on the car!
