Jeez, you must have a nice dad!

Well for another perspective, my 1997 VR6 has just done 74,000 and it has a complete service history to corroborate with the k's on the dash. So yeah, anything is possible really.

Mate best way is to ring the rta and get the history of the car. Everytime u pinkslip your car they record the k's and that data is stored by the rta. This is the true way to find out if its got correct mileage...

Edit: Since ur in VIC that might be different but give ur motor registration body a ring lol.

is it possible that it has been clocked, by that i mean gone all the round and back to zero again. remember seeing a clip on youtube with this mk3 vr6 and the guy filming the odo as it clicked over 300,000 and started at zero again? just a thought..

Bolster wear is a sign of alot of use, your right to be skeptical of the kms. but it could have been just a very big owner!

Should have an annual service showing how many kms it had done at that point.

If there is a gap in servicing sometimes it can mean the car has been crashed and repaired and possibly spent some time off the road.
Bingo!!!! i would only buy a car with a service book....if it doesnt have one there a reason its missing...

This topic now makes my car worth more....hahahaha

Why dont you just ring the previous owner, whose name should be in the logbook?

Thanks guys for all the comments and feedback.

Despite it being a dealer used car, i have tried to do as much background work in relation to the history of the car. It has a full service history but having only done 30000kms its only two dealership completed services, one at 15000 and the other at 30000.

Sometime i do wish Victoria did have a similar system to NSW's Annual Re-registration/pink slip process because as peedman has stated it would have been easy to just check to see what the last recorded odometer reading was. However unfortunately we don't have that luxury if you could call it that but at least i was able to find that it hasn't been written off in the past.

I like Graeme's idea of contacting the previous owner which is what i hope to do when i go into the dealership. I was allowed access initially due to 'privacy reasons' but it's funny when they know i'm going to buy the car that all changes ! Hopefully the previous and only lady owner will give me some honest insight into the history of the car

Anyhow my delivery has been postponed yet again ! Meant to go into the VW Dealership to have some RWC items sorted out, the sale rep was clueless and wouldn't tell me what but hopefully looking at Wednesday for pick up.

Let's hope for the best and hope all my concerns are nothing

    Cheers guys
    Naz
