    Badging

Hey guys, wanna get an idea of how your cars look after you've removed or changed your badges. I was thinking about removing all the back badges from the bora but wanna get some ideas first. Ive done the front badge black so far. Like the whole sleeper look! Also whats the best way to remove them without damaging the paint?

If anyones got any pics go nuts!

You may need to change the complete grill/ bumper, I think some are 1 piece, it's not as simple as taking the VW logo off. You may also need to weld the notch on the bonnet too. Possibly a big job unless you get a grill with that part extended, perhaps use a bra to cover it ??

I should have some pics of badgeless bora somewhere on my PC at home. keep you posted.

Not bora but you get what I mean.

Yeah im looking into the badgless front grill. I think ebay is the way to go from what ive looked at. Im looking into de-badging the rear badges, or some of them anyway and maybe blacking out the VW centre badge. Is it hard to remove these badges without causing any damage? Whats the easiest way to do it?

Not sure how they stuck the VW, bora badge on your car but I used tooth floss, wraped it the badge and slowly cut into it, use methol to take off the redundant muck and use water with 4000g sand paper and clay bar to sand it it out.

Sandpaper! :s ill give the dental floss a go. Might take them off over the weekend and do the rear VW badge black for the whole sleeper look. Anyone know of a place in aus that stock the badgless front grills like these ones?

no one will stock them here, and if they do,get ready to pay.

ok... the rear badge ,I have painted mine and had it in pieces.

when you take it off,you will have a rubber outer edge.remove that
then on the rear, you will see some plastic bits that look pop rivets.they are holding the outer VW chrome on.drill the tops off or scrape them till they are flatish.
then the VW chrome part will fall off.
sand paper the chrome other wise the paint wont stick(my first try failed because of this).
paint as you see fit,let dry overnight, glue where you drilled the plastic off and apply to car as you had removed.

check my pics here on mk4 forum and you will see I have airbrushed the recessed part a lightish blue colour and left the chrome part.

any other help, just pm me or post here.

oh,,, btw ,I used a hair dryer on the rear badge and pryed it off using my fingers after I had heated the plastic.its double sided tape... DONT USE A SCREW DRIVER OR SIMILAR!!!
