Any trick to removing Beetle headlights?

Trying to remove the LH headlight on a 2005 Beetle to replace the bulb.
I've read the owners manual, and it says to turn the 5mm hex locking shaft anticlockwise to unlock it, then just push on the rear of the headlight unit to remove it.
Its definitely unlocking as it gets loose, but it only moves forward about 15mm then wont go any further. I've tried wriggling it around, and applying a bit of force (gently!!) but just doesn't want to come out any further.

Is there another trick to it, or something I've missed?
I'm starting to wonder if the front bumper or quarter panel has been removed in the past and perhaps put back on in a way that's preventing the headlight being removed. Possible??

You need to push down a tab that's causing it to get stuck. It should be located by the side of headlight it will twist be careful not to break it as you will need to lift it back up to lock it in again. Take a close look to find it. Cheers.

Found the tab on the side of the headlight housing as you said. Its a silver metal lever thingy.
I practiced on the RH light first as that has good access, then once I'd worked it out the LH one was pretty easy. The LH tab is quite a way down behind the battery compartment, but a big screwdriver was enough to push it down without having to remove the battery for access.
