    haha, i know i should check it, i've now learnt from last time! But from this time i've learnt that i should also be checking the colour/condition of the oil.
    i'm just surprised that with all the warnings the car likes to give you, like that bloody annoying "washer fluid low" warning, they could at least give you a warning for something that is critical, like oil level!

    so any reccomendations for oil for a gti?

    and is the problem i had not very common? just a little surprised that no-one suggested to just keep cranking it like the NRMA guy did! but of course thanks for the help anyway as always

    The Castrol edge will be fine.
