At the very least, I'd be demanding the $240 off the price of a new compressor - if he misdiagnosed it, he should wear the cost!
Hey all,
As some of you might have read in another post, I am having problems with the air conditioning in my MK4 1.6..... you know the problem, lots of air...not much conditioning....
I took it to the local "air conditioning specialist"..."oh it's your TX valve...you need a new one"
$240 later (valve and re-gass)..."bummer that didn't work...must be your compressor" he said.."I've ordered one and it'll be $1200"
Hang on a minute, he miss diagnosed the TX valve, I am not handing over another $1200+ without a second opinion.
First question...are air conditioning faults able to be picked up by a VAG-COM scan?
Second question, does anyone from the Brisbane area know of a reputable/knowledgeable air conditioning repairer? I don't mind travelling a bit, I just need someone who seems to know what they are doing.
Thanks for your help.

Nothing to see here...
PM Jmac and get his views ... he's been doing VW air con for years ... and successfully diagnosed mine when the compressor went (fixed under warranty ).
