    After MK4 Carrier/Hub/Control Arm info

    Hi all,

After replacing the front brakes on my MK4 1.6L to 312mm from a Bora 4mo (second hand hubs/carriers/bearings/disks/pads/everything that's needed to do the swap), I had really strange amounts of negative camber and toe in on the right side (left side was good).

Here's an image note the previous values are how they were straight after the swap, final values are how they are now with toe adjusted so I could at least drive the car .
(note the left side toe was fine vs previous values, the values listed are a happy medium (right side toe was +15.1mm after swap))

So, I'm wondering if anyone could give me any information if the hubs/carriers would do this? What could be bent?
Are 4mo front control arms different?

Surely someone else has put 312mm brakes from a 4mo onto a 1.6 before .

You probably think it's stupid me doing the swap to 312mm but I'm going to be doing a 24v VR6 conversion and the brakes needed changing anyway.

my car was originally 1.6 - and I ended up going to gti hubs and audi tt carriers and 312mm disks.

Although mine werent 4mo, it's no surprise the steering geometry is all out. With my setup, caster and camber are not adjustable, only toe in and out - which were adjusted quite a bit after the swap: car tracks perfectly.

when i originally did mine the left side had very visible negative camber - turned out the hub carrier was bent, got another, all good now

You can get a little adjustment of the camber by moving the lower ball joint on the end of the control arm.

Probably bent in a crash. You actually get very little camber adjustment at the lower ball joint , I tied to do this to correct the negative camber from my bent hub and it made next to no difference. It does screw your wheel alignment if you fiddle with it though...
