Aero-Wipers working like new again for $4.00

Yeah, seems I chose poorly - go the Trico ones. I gather they have some others which are better suited so I'm heading back tonight.
Hopefully I can find ones that work.

The cheapy Mechpro plastic backed refills that Repco sell also have the wide base but I was told the rubber is harder than that used in the Repco branded blades which would make the Mechpros more likely to smear.

The ones I listed above work great on both our Mk6 Golf (which has the same wipers as your Mk5) and my Polo (which has the same wipers as the Mk4 Golf from what I can tell)

Well, the conclusion is - no joy. Found some inserts that were just the rubbers - but even they could not be slid into the standard arm.

In the end, I went to VW this morning and got the proper one. Apparently on "special" at $65 for the set... ouchy.

I don't understand. What stopped them going in?

Had same trouble inserting 6mm refills from Bursons into mk 5. Could get almost on but then friction took over. Ended up dismantling and piecing back together. That was 12 months ago, so can't remember exactly how. Just remember it being a bit fiddly but easier than trying to pull the refill through.

I found that once the wiper refill was most of the way in, it would get very tight but the solution was to pull in more rubber down to the middle of the blade so it was a compressed in there which made it far easier to pull through to the end.
