I always just quote the rubbers at work, as i also think its unfair to charge near on $100 for wiper blades. And the chances of a customer agreeing to $24 worth of genuine rubbers is alot more likely then $100.

Some prices are OTT and wipers are definitly one of them.

if it's anything like kmart in brisbane then you won't find them there anymore... just a lot of cheap rubbish. super cheap auto should have what you need. if not then ebay is your friend I suppose

Update on replacing the wiper rubbers for Golf V.

Following the replacement method described at the start of this thread, yesterday I succesfully replaced my wiper rubbers.

They have had some use since then and still no issues.

After trying several different stores/brands/sizes, which either didn't fit, or pulled out too easily, I finally cam across a set that has the right cross section. By eye, it is identical to the OEM rubber.

Probably not as good quality as the OEM part, but in a totally different price bracket.

    $12.99 - Repco Wiper Refill Set, Plastics Back, 6mm Narrow, 610mm, PN#RRPN24

Replace them twice as often. For that price, why me worry ?

If you're referring to Mk IV (not Mk V like the post abouve yours) ECS Tuning has a conversion kit, or you can retro fit one off a 9n3 Polo I think (might need some adaption around the spindle cover)

Snowy, there's a wiper thread over in the MkVI section, I'm going to post a link from there to your excellent tutorial.

Thanks for this tip - I picked up some of the Repco rubbers for my Jetta today after being quoted $45 per blade by one of the local dealers . The RRPN24's are up to $13.99 now, but fitted perfectly. Very simple DIY job.

    Cheers,
