    Adding keyless?

    Hey guys,

In Australia our early models didnt have Keyless entry right? Anyone used a kit to add it?
I have a 2001 Golf GTI. Still with the recaro's etc.

ECS tuning have a kit - looks like it would be pretty straightforward to do.

Volkswagen Golf IV 1.8T > Search > Keyless Entry Vw > ES#2090760 PKE Remote Door Lock System With Built-In KVW100 Window Module (2002 And Newer) - PV1-PKE-ADV

You'd want to check it was suitable for your year/model.

I just got an aftermarket one done by autobahn, simple lock unlock and that's it(circa $100 iirc). I discovered the kvw100 on ecs a couple of weeks ago and i think I'll be upgrading to that soon, I don't see why it wouldn't work for our cars.

ECS kit is 2002 and newer. Id say it is for cars WITH Keyless as mine is a 2001 and I know 2001 < should come with it.

I'd really like to know if there is a VW module.. Also will regular mister minit etc laser cut our keys? I can get the HUF brand blanks (same as factory) and a remote, but not sure if he'll cut.

    Volkswagen Keyless Entry, 2006>2008 - ZGB6Q2052600

yet to fit it, but it looks very straightforward

This is the one I'd go with. I have bought and fitted one if these here in Australia to a mate's MK4 1600.

The ECS one is a bit of a mystery to me, I can't see how it is opening the doors?

The kit that was linked to is for 2002 and newer but ecs also have a kit for 1999-2001 cars, would that kit work with our cars?

I bought a lookalike mkIV flip key set off eBay for about 30 bucks or something. Wired it in in about 20 minutes. Bought a key blade off eBay for five bucks got it cut, transferred the chip from an old key and away I went!!! Although I did have too actually glue the new keyblade in and grind a slight amount off the end to make it fit. Looks legit tho!
