ABS Wheel Speed Sensor replaced, still acting up

Sounds like you may have exactly the same issue as I did, I only really found a solution when I discovered there are known reliability issues with the ATE ABS unit/controller on earlier years MK4 Golfs. I had no idea how to remove it so just drove out to the electrician and he took care of it. Its the best service I have had considering others were advising that I might need to recheck the entire wiring or get a new pump etc. I was being quoted for the better part of a days worth of labour which in the end would not have resolved the problem. The VAG codes were also a bit misleading. By the way that's that's way too much for the sensor, I had parts and install for about 200 at a Sydney service centre. For what its worth I found my ABS problem was due to the left sensor bolt coming loose, the sensor was moving around. I tightened the bolt and all is good.

VAG pointed to the module so its either fix or replace i spose

i got the same problem, ever since i moved my battery slightly to the left to make room for the pod my ABS light keeps flicking on and off while i drive...

Like they said previously the ABS fuse is on top of the battery, so make sure you didnt stretch the wiring or something. The ABS wires come out through the separate plug on the back of the fusebox on top of the battery.

There are also two small earth points under the battery tray which are for the ABS system earths. There are two really big earthpoints and then the ABS ones are the smaller ones towards the back of the car but still on top of the chassis rail
