Hello,
A few days ago when slowing for a corner, say 10 to 20 kms, there was a grinding from the wheels, quite load too. It would lessen when I straightened up, I also felt bad vibration through the brake pedal. As I was not able to look at it straight away I did a little reading on the net.
My initial worry, from the symptoms described by people off the net, were the CV's. Anyway, today I finally got a chance to have a look and discovered the axle nut on the front left was half on. So after tightening it too 200Nm I had a look around for any other movement.
The shock seemed to have movement also!? It seemed as though the top nut was loose as well!? I had a quick look under the bonnet, only to discover an adjustment nut, I will have to chase that up later.
I then took the car around the block a few times and seemed to have fixed the problem. However, I have a question or two:
The service manual states to loosen the axle nut 1/8 turn after torquing to 200Nm, why is this?
Is a little movement of the shocker acceptable?
Thanks, Gareth
